Reflections On My Final Hour as a Teenager

October 14, 2006

I just wanted to have a few reflections in my last hours as a teenager. For those who don’t know, I am turning 20 years old in 6 hours 30 minutes. Teenage(hood) lasts from thirteen to nineteen and as far as I can tell is the biggest age bracket before Senior Citizen and after Child. Especially if you want to get into an amusement park.

Here are a few reflections. When I became a teenager in 1999 I was still living in America and had in fact just moved to California. 1999 seems so long ago and yet almost like yesterday. I remember Y2K and how everyone thought all the computers were going to crash. I can remember being disappointed when nothing crapped out, not even a light on the Christmas tree! My Dad was at work that evening to make sure everything turned over OK. Seemed like a big energy waste when it all came down to absolutely nothing going wrong. Oh and by the way, the song Party like its 1999 was finally that year from the song! I remember that… go knows why. Between 1997 and 2001 I really discovered the radio and listened to it, so I guess I remember that song being played.

Back in the early millennium my parents got divorced which is always hard. It seemed as though everyone’s parents were together but mine – sometimes it still does.

I remember that whole process very well. Despite what everyone says, us “kids” do understand you know.

Some Random Facts:

While I was a young teenager I listened to the following radio stations:

KZZP 104.7 FM – Scottsdale, Arizona

CD93 – 93.5 FM – Monterey, California

My favorite sports car?

The McLaren F1 – Every boy has a favorite car…right? This is one of those cars that is just out of everyone’s league, but everyone dreams of one from time to time. I had a great 1/18th scale model in British Racing Green

My brother learned to drive when he was 14 or so, when we lived in South Dakota where there are odd laws for the legal age to drive. I still don’t have a driver’s licence, that doesn’t mean I can’t drive though!

Hmm what other wacko things that you never wanted to know can I tell you?

Throughout my teenage years I was a die-hard fan of Star Trek, as most know who read my blog. If anyone knows of a quiz show with questions about Star Trek – let me know.

Well it’s just about to go 12 midnight, so I better close up this last entry as a teenager.
