Hey Bro! I was an ADMIRAL - not a general! (and it was in a Diane Duane ST-TOS Novel!) Also check out the Nit-Picker's guide for TNG, Volume II.

I adopt unwanted "Riker as Malcorian" figures - I feel they're part of the family and should always have a home...!

Thanks for chiming in there Dan. Very interesting background information on the stories, that's for sure. It's interesting how writers put little clues in stories where only friends and family will know what it is a reference to. Dan, you might want to add that information to Memory-Alpha it might be useful to someone oneday. I'm on my way to check out your site. -S-

Richard, don't you think I Google myself on occasion?

If you are interested in the history of the name Malcor and Star Trek, my sister Karen and her friendship with David Gerrold is really the line to investigate. There is a General Malcor in one of the novels and on the last page of Gerrold's "Galactic Whirlpool" they are heading to a planet names "Malcor's Pride", a play on the name of my sister's horse Gerrold's Pride.

You should try a google of Dan Malcor. I work with him here in Newport Beach. It was his sister who was the inspiration for the name, Malcorian. He has a little Riker as a Malcorian figure at his desk and told me the story early on.
